The 17th Annual Roman Barten Memorial Benefit Breakfast will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Prague KC Hall (411 4th Avenue SW). This year’s breakfast will support 5-year-old Colton Will of New Prague, who is bravely battling Mixed Phenotype Lineage Leukemia.
Diagnosed at just four years old, Colton is currently undergoing the “maintenance” phase of a three-year treatment journey through Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. While receiving monthly clinic visits and home chemotherapy, Colton finds strength in a favorite blanket he brings to every appointment. Despite the challenges, he remains upbeat, enjoys playing with Hot Wheels and Monster trucks, and is excited to return to day care part-time.
The event, hosted annually by the Barten family in honor of Roman Barten’s legacy of service, is open to the public with a free-will donation. Attendees can enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, sausages, and cinnamon rolls while supporting a local family in need.
Those who can’t attend the breakfast but still wish to contribute can send donations to the “Colton Will Benefit Account” at First Bank & Trust, 1101 First Street SE, New Prague, MN 56071. Donations to the account are anonymous.
Please consider attending, donating, or spreading the word to help support Colton and the Will family on their journey toward healing.
