Matt Bertrang was officially sworn in as a Jordan Public Schools board member during the regular school board meeting on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Bertrang’s appointment fills the vacancy left by Rob Langheim, who resigned after relocating outside the district boundaries, rendering him ineligible to continue serving. Langheim’s term officially concluded on May 31, 2025.
Upon Board Chair Deb Pauly receiving Langheim’s resignation, the school board members discussed how to proceed at the May 12 school board meeting, and determined that they would appoint the next highest vote earner from the previous public election. According to the district the decision is in alignment with Minnesota statute and district precedent.
Bertrang, an active parent within the district, had consistently attended board meetings and finished as the next highest vote earner behind the elected candidates in last November’s school board election. He will serve the remainder of Langheim’s term, which runs through December 2026.
A graduate of LeSueur-Henderson High School, Bertrang now lives in Jordan with his wife and two children. He cited a desire to help both new and existing families feel the same joy and confidence he does in sending his children to Jordan Public Schools as his motivation for seeking a board seat.
“We are so thankful of Rob’s service to our school community, and while we are sad to see him go, we’re thrilled to welcome Matt to the Jordan School Board to serve our families and community!” said Superintendent Ranae Case Evenson.
