The Jordan Boys Basketball team battled back from an 18-point halftime deficit but fell just short in an 86-82 loss to New Ulm on Thursday night. The Hubmen have now dropped three straight games by a combined 17 points.
New Ulm 86, Jordan 82
On Thursday night, Jordan traveled to New Ulm in search of a win. The score was tied at eight, before the New Ulm shooters caught fire. The Eagles put on a shooting clinic connecting on 20 of 37 (54%) attempts. In the first half, the Eagles were 15/29 on two-point attempts and 5/8 on three-point attempts. New Ulm took a 50-32 lead into halftime.
In the second half, New Ulm continued to shoot well. Despite attempting only 17 shots, they made 11 ( 65%). Meanwhile, Jordan chipped away at the lead. With seven minutes to play, Jacob Conrady drilled a three-pointer to cut New Ulm’s lead to nine, 68-59. Jordan implemented a full court press which gave New Ulm issues. A three-pointer by Brayden Davis cut the New Ulm lead to 81-77 with a minute left. Mitchell Schmidt scored two points on an offensive rebound. Lexyn Grof hit a three-pointer with nine seconds left to bring the Hubmen within three points, 85-82. In the end, New Ulm was able to hold on for the 86-82 win.
For the game, New Ulm made 31/54 field goal attempts (57%), while the Hubmen connected on 27/59 (46%). Jordan’s committed 20 turnovers, 17 in the first half.
Lexyn Grof led Jordan with 24 points. Mitchell Schmidt contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds. Jacob Conrady added 10 points and 6 rebounds.
