Jaguars Upset Minneapolis North, Advance to Section Finals against #1 Providence Academy on March 7

The #3 Jordan Jaguars upset #2 Minneapolis North to earn a spot in the 5AA Section Finals. They will play #1 Providence Academy on March 7 at Augsburg College at 7 PM. Providence Academy is ranked #1 in Class 2AA and was the State Champion in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Currently, the Jaguars are ranked #10 in the state. The winner advances to the GBB State Tournament, which starts on March 12.
Jordan 80, Minneapolis North 71
The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the Jaguars and the Polars. Savi Borowicz connected on back-to-back threes to give Jordan a 13-12 lead. The score was tied at 15 before North went on a 13-9 run to go ahead 28-21. Both teams traded baskets, with North leading 38-29. Jordan ended the half on a 10-4 run to get within three, 42-39. Whenever the Jaguars needed a clutch basket, Savi Borowicz came through, accounting for 21 points. Eighth-grader Jordan Staloch, unfazed by the moment, scored 12 points and played great defense.
The second half was a game of runs. Jordan took its first lead at 48-46 and went on a 23-7 run midway through the half. North then countered with a 15-9 run of its own. Leading 71-66 with 4:45 to play, Lydia Hagen hit a momentum-changing three-pointer. Morgan Staloch followed up with a layup, and Savi Borowicz cashed in at the free-throw line for a 7-0 run. Jordan held on for an 80-71 upset win.
