The Jordan cross country teams ran strong races at the Wright County East Conference Championship meet held at Crown College outside Waconia on Tuesday, October 15th. The boys varsity team finished in 3rd place and the girls varsity team placed 4th place. Both middle school teams performed well also as the boys middle school team won the meet and the girls middle school team placed 2nd.
Logan Bohlsen led the boys team with a very strong performance as he earned All-Conference status. He ran a gutsy race on a challenging course with the leaders for the first 4500m. He stumbled over a root in the final stretch of woods as he lost contact and finished with a 3rd place finish and he tied his personal record (PR). Wilson Menden also earned All-Conference as he posted his 2nd fastest time of the season. He also got out and ran a strong gutsy race and held on for an 8th place finish. Domenek Williams posted his 2nd fastest time of the season as he earned All-Conference Honorable Mention with a 12th place finish. Owen Dahnert also earned All-Conference Honorable Mention as he placed 16th. Owen was the 5th fastest freshman or younger in the conference.
Cullen Hyer ran the best race of his career as he was a team scorer for the first time in a varsity race. He finished in 27th place with a new personal record. Finn Lanheim ran a very strong final 800m to finish in 33rd place. Charles Huesers ran his 2nd fastest time of the season as he wrapped up with a 40th place finish. For a second straight year, the Hubmen have had some strong battles with rival Southwest Christian but ultimately finished just a bit short in the Conference championship meet.
On the girls side, Bianca Peterson led the Jaguars with an 8th place finish and an All-Conference Award for a 2nd straight year. She was also only one second off of her season best and four seconds off of her lifetime PR with this performance. Allie Althoff earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention award with a 12th place finish. She was only 5 seconds off of her lifetime personal record. Olivia Fynboh was All-Conference Honorable Mention for the 4th straight season. She was within 19 seconds of her lifetime PR. Samantha Tieben was within 7 seconds of a PR as she finished in 24th place. Senior, Torah Barret, ran a lifetime PR as she rounded out the team’s scoring with a 27th place finish. Danika Barlage added a lifetime PR as she placed 29th and Abigail Schiffman ran a season best to round out the team’s performance. The girls placed 4th overall.
8th grader, Cullen Winters showed so much growth this season as he capped his season with the middle school boys individual championship and helped lead the team to the Middle School title. Cullen covered the 3000m course in 10:51. He improved from 19th place last year to 1st this year! Bennett Bohlsen finished in 4th place and was the top placing 7th grader. Bryce Stilen also earned a ribbon with a 10th place finish. Breck Kaderlick and Jackson Waller placed 11th and 12th to round out the top 5. Waller was the 2nd highest placing 6th grader in the meet. The team had a spread of less than 1:00. Sawyer Judge place 17th and Everette Barlage finished 24th overall. Every boy on the team ran a personal record.
The middle school girls team has been battling very strong teams from Hutchinson and Mound Westonka all season. They finished the season by finishing the closest to Hutch they’ve been all year and also beating Mound Westonka. Minka Hage led the Jaguars to a 2nd place team finish with a 3rd place individual finish as she covered the 3k course in 11:58. She has been the top middle school runner virtually all season long. Alyvia Nylander finished 4th with 13:04 and Louella McCoy also placed in the top 10 with a 6th place finish. Leah Lucas and Evelyn Gunderson placed 13th and 14th respectively. Claira Gens and Cami Smith were the next pair as they went 19th and 20th. Emma Hoeben and Lochy Barrett were the final pair as they finished in 21st and 22nd. Every girl on the middle school team also ran a personal record on this course.
The varsity teams will compete at the Section 2AA Championship Meet next Thursday, October 24th in Mankato.
