Lorraine Link
March 26, 1925 - February 18, 2025
Lorraine M. Link, age 99, of Shakopee, MN, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee.
Lorraine was born March 26, 1925 in New Prague, MN, to Joseph and Julia (Uhlir) Javurek.
Lorraine grew up in New Prague with one brother and two sisters. She attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated high school in 1943. Lorraine's father came to the U.S. from Czechoslovakia when he was seven years old. Her Czech heritage has always been very important to her, and she learned to speak Czech from her parents. After high school she worked at the State Bank of New Prague, first as a bookkeeper and then as a teller. Her knowledge of the Czech language became a benefit, helping the older Czech clients
She married Donald N. Link on June 1, 1946, and they moved to Shakopee. Her husband was a building contractor and they had one son, Don Jr. Don Jr. served in the Army and was sent to Vietnam in 1968. Lorraine got to visit him in Hawaii on his R & R.
Lorraine was very proud of her two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a member of St Mark's Church for 75 years. For 17 years, she went once a week to perpetual adoration. She has enjoyed all sporting events and loved ice fishing with her husband.
Lorraine was widowed in 1998. She was the Uber driver for the family and relatives, and she always drove the nuns from St. Mark's to their medical appointments. Lorraine moved into Friendship Manor in August, 2023, and she appreciated the wonderful care and all her new friends!
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald N. Link; sister, Lucille Novak; brother, Robert "Bud" Javurek; parents, Joseph and Julia; sisters-in-law, Helen Link and Carol Link. She is survived by her son, Don (Jan) Link; grandchildren, Tim (Rose) and Jennifer (Vernon) Lovegreen; great-granddaughters, Josie and Lauren; great-grandsons, Vernon IV and Dillon; sister, Shirley Hentges; sister-in-law, Marlene Link.
Visitation Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 3-6 PM, and Monday, March 3, from 9:30-10:30 AM, both at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. East, Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 3, at 11:00 AM, at Church of St. Mark, 350 Atwood St. South, Shakopee. Interment Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.
