Model T Returns Home: Jordan Historical Society To Host Special Visit from Virginia Couple and Vintage Ford
By The Hub News Staff Reports
History will roll back into Jordan on Saturday, July 19, when the Jordan Area Historical Society hosts a special guest and a very special car: a 1919 Model T touring car returning to the site of its original purchase more than a century ago.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can stop by The History Center Museum at 116 First Street East to see the meticulously maintained Model T and meet its owners, retired Air Force Colonel Jay Pearsall and his wife, Debbie. The couple is traveling from their home in Williamsburg, Virginia, to take part in the Model T International 68th Annual Tour in Owatonna, and they’re making a meaningful detour in Jordan along the way.
The Pearsalls' Model T was originally purchased on September 17, 1919, by Nicolas Klein of Prior Lake for $584.30—a price that would translate to just under $11,000 today. It was sold at C.H. Casey’s Stove Tin and Hardware Store, a former Ford dealership located at the corner of Broadway and First Streets in downtown Jordan. That same building still stands today and is now home to Water Street Antiques.
“If this car could talk, the stories it could tell,” said Diana Brenke, a representative of the Jordan Area Historical Society. “It actually drove the streets of Jordan in 1919.”
The Historical Society invites the community to join them for this one-day-only event to celebrate the stories that have shaped Jordan’s past. Volunteers will be on hand to share local history and exhibits, and to encourage curiosity about the town’s heritage.
