Peter S. Stemmer, age 76, of Shakopee, MN, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his home.
Peter was born on November 18, 1948, in Shakopee, the son of George and Helen (Stans) Stemmer. He lived on the family farm growing up, and then was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Peter drove tanks during the war.
Peter married Jeannette Schmitt, and together had 2 children, Pam and Bryan. He enjoyed muscle cars, and hunting and fishing (he participated in B.A.S.S. fishing tournaments). Peter enjoyed his mornings at Donut Connection in Shakopee, and eating out with Jeannette. You could find him on Saturday afternoons at the Shakopee V.F.W. enjoying, and being very lucky at, the meat raffles. He liked to help others, and was active in his home association.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette; daughter, Pam (Jason) Theis; son, Bryan (Dawn); grandchildren, Calvin Stemmer, Dustin Theis and Myra Theis, Logan Stemmer, Dean Stemmer, and Christy (Cole) Lindstrom; sister, Mary Carol Tessmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Stemmer; grandson, Austin Stemmer; brother, Calvin H. (Rose) Stemmer; and brother-in-law, Marvin Tessmer.
Visitation Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10 AM - 12 Noon; followed by a Celebration of Peter’s Life at 12 Noon, at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Avenue East, Shakopee, 952-445-2755. Reception at Shakopee VFW. Interment Friday March 14, 10 AM, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
