Shakopee School Board Organizes for 2025, Elects New Officers

Shakopee Public Schools held their first school board meeting of 2025 on Monday night. Jeff Smith, Tim Brophy, and Nick Zitek began their new four-year terms after winning re-election in November.
At the beginning of the organizational meeting, board members took the oath of office:
"I swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of this State, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 720 to the best of my judgment and ability."
Among other organizational business, the board elected its officers as follows:
Chair: Jeff Smith
Vice Chair: Kristi Peterson
Treasurer: Joe Aldrich
Clerk: Caroline Valdez
Following the organizational meeting, the board held a leadership development workshop. The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 27.
