On Saturday, September 21st, the City of Jordan hosted its third installment of the popular Movie Night in Lagoon Park series. Families and friends gathered for an evening of entertainment that kicked off with live music, followed by a free outdoor screening of the Remember the Titans. With blankets spread out and lawn chairs in place, attendees enjoyed the beautiful evening while indulging in concessions, including local favorite Clancy’s pizza.
For sports fans, the city had a special treat—a separate screen set up in the park’s gazebo aired the Minnesota vs. Iowa football game, ensuring there was something for everyone.
This summer series, which debuted with screenings of The Sandlot and Hook, has been in the works for a while. “Our staff was talking about doing this for the last few years.” shared City Administrator Tom Nikunen.
Mark your calendars for the final Movie Night in Lagoon Park on Saturday, October 12th. The city will present a Halloween-themed double feature of Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2, with the first film starting around 6:45 p.m. More details will be announced by the city as the date approaches.
According to Nikunen, the proceeds from concession sales have covered the costs of putting on the event. The city has received very positive feedback on the event and plans to continue the Movie Night in Lagoon Park series again next summer. “It’s a great free community event” Nikunen said. “Small towns are the best!”
