The Jordan High School Marching Band dazzled audiences Friday evening, showcasing their new uniforms while delivering a student-led performance that demonstrated both their musical prowess and deep local connections.
The new uniforms, made possible through combined support from the Jordan Fire Department Relief Fund and Jordan Booster Club, exemplified the strong partnership between the band program and local organizations.
Throughout the evening, Director Logan Burnside emphasized the band's role as ambassadors for Jordan.
"The JHS Band is about community.” Burnside said.
“Being in community through music study and performance, but also showing up for our Jordan community and being an integral part of the fabric of our school district and town. We try to be present at town events and celebrations throughout the year whenever possible; because community is important” he concluded.
In a departure from tradition, Burnside handed the conductor's baton to his students, taking on the role of master of ceremonies and leading the crowd in synchronized movements during the popular "Hey Baby" number. The evening featured student conductors, demonstrating the program's emphasis on developing leadership skills alongside musical talent.
A highlight of the evening came when sophomore Abby Strand channeled her inner Pitbull for a crowd-pleasing performance of "Fireball," adding contemporary flair to the traditional marching band format.
The concert caps a busy fall season that saw the band performing at both home and away football, soccer, tennis, cross country and volleyball games, as well as numerous civic events.
Looking ahead, the band will honor local veterans with a special performance on November 11 at 2:00 PM in the Jordan High School auditorium.
